Kunst am Buch

‘Kunst am Buch’ (‘the art of the book’) is a series of specialist bindings by artists and designers collected by Hans Burkhardt, drawing on his rich experience at Zürich bookbindery Bubu. This physical trove translates to the digital by echoing Hans’ system of storing each artefact in a uniquely coloured and sized archive box. A pixel-built spectrum of rectangular motifs represent each featured object, staying true to shape and scale as visitors browse. Each box is then 'opened' via further filters of cover, content or artist and by making use of a tool to zoom in on detailed hi-res imagery.⁠
