Memorial Route is a zero-budget movement empowering road victims' families to prevent future accidents in Spain. We hijacked Google Maps' "Add Missing Place" feature, usually for businesses, to create digital memorials at the exact locations where loved ones died. Thousands of families participated, sharing their stories, creating pins on Google Maps and posting on social media. The pins transformed from emotional memorials into practical warning signs for drivers: a powerful incentive to drive more cautiously and adhere to traffic laws, ultimately preventing future accidents.
