Bacteria Branding

Inspired by drinks and flavour lab Crucible's experimental and microbial-level processes, we cultivated a physical, organic visual identity, by growing bacteria in the shape of their logo. We laser cut the logo from cork, applied samples of aged kombucha, a liquid culture of lions mane, household food waste, and skin & soil solutions, pressed them into petri dishes, and left them to grow. We cultivated ~30 samples over three 2-week periods, photographing each sample every 2-3hrs (even overnight!) to capture the unexpected forms & beautiful natural textures, manipulating only colours.
