The Square Meter
About the Work As prices soar and economies shrink, Europeans are facing a growing housing crisis. People are having to make do with less and less space in their homes. And every square meter becomes an extremely valuable resource. For DIY and garden retailer HORNBACH, a brand that stands for ambitious, large- DIY projects, the task was therefore to show that creativity can still find a place in the living reality of today. To that end, we explored the creative possibilities of a symbolically small space in its autumn campaign film: the individual square meter. With completely handcrafted sets, the spot follows a day in the life of a house with impossibly small rooms, from a bedroom that doubles as a shower, to discos and mushroom farms, to a dining room with chairs hanging from the walls. A testament to the infinite ways a square meter can be used. And if all this is possible on one square meter, what else is possible in your home?
